Fashion 101
By: Katelyn Lyons Over the years I've come to realize that deciding on what to wear the first day back to school is one of the biggest challenges we as girls face. It's not about the books, or clubs, or even who we're going to have for teachers. It's what we wear that raises the bar in social society. My goal for writing this article is to recognize the latest trends, what's in style, what never was, and also let you in on ways to keep up with your appearance using little effort. Some of the trends I've come to notice are as follows:
Skinny Jeans
Whether or not it's for a night on the town with your best girls or for going to a punk show, these jeans are right for any person. Not to mention they look great with heels.
Pro Wrap & Elastic Headbands
Lets admit it, somedays getting up early just doesn't cut it. But don't give up faith just quite yet: there's a way to have a pony tail and still look cute. How? Easy. Ladies, say hello to your new best friend: sports pro wrap and elastic headbands. All you need to do is take a comb, tease your crown at the top, throw it up in a pony tail and use the headbands to hold your hair back. The teasing adds the chicness while the headband or wrap adds a sporty touch.
Now that you've gotten all the information you need on clothes and accessories, it's time for some advice on how to wear the right clothes for your body type. Throughout this part of the article you will learn what fits your body right and how to accentuate your best features.
If you want to look:
Taller:
- High waist jeans make your legs look longer, while heels give the illusion that your legs are equally as long underneath.
Your Secret Weapons:
A Fitted Skirt provides a long lean line.
Raised flatforms add extra lift.
Curvier:
- Details like ruffles and puffy sleeves amp up your curves, while ankle socks give calves a more sculpted look.
Your Secret Weapons:
A full skirt in bold plaid fills your body out.
An oversize belt exaggerates your waistline.
Slimmer:
- A top that flows, but not in a sloppy way, is key to look slimmer. Otherwise, it'll end up making you look bulky.
- A skinny fit type of jeans makes legs seem lean and toned.
Your Secret Weapons:
Pointy toed shoes and heels lengthen legs to thin you out.
During this article I have not only spoken about the latest fashion trends that plaster our school hallways, but also give you some tips on how to still look good without the hour in front of the mirror and ways to work the clothes that you love. It's up to you as students to carry these ideas out throughout the halls.
